Adult Summer Reading: The Adventures of Aileen McGuire: Hoggee on the Erie Canal

Join us as Lorna MacDonald Czarnota presents an original monologue in costume regarding the adventures of Aileen McGuire!

In the early 1860s, Aileen lived with her grandfather on an Erie Canal boat. She worked as a “hoggee,” or mule driver.

Listen to her recount stories from her childhood as well as facts about life on a canal boat and the history of the country!
